Why We Rebuilt cage.berlin

When we started CAGE, the website had all the right information on it. Reading it again a few months later, though, it mostly felt like a list of rules. Lots of "don't", lots of warnings, and very little that said: hey, you're welcome here.

That bothered us. CAGE is meant to be the easy way in, the affordable night where you can try something new. If you're still wondering whether a kinky party is for you at all, a page full of warnings isn't going to help you decide. So we rebuilt cage.berlin, and this time we kept asking ourselves what we would have wanted to read before our own first time.

Prices without the guesswork

First thing we fixed was the prices. You shouldn't need a calculator to find out what a night costs. Fees are now included in every price, and the cheapest ticket sits at the top. Early entry is €11.30. If you're 28 or under, or a student, it's €15. And if you started somewhere else and it just wasn't your night, come by later: €15 after 03:00, only €10 after 04:00. If something comes up, you can resell your ticket on Resident Advisor.

If it's your first time

This is the part we're happiest with. There's now a proper first-timer guide that tells you what actually happens on the night. You walk into a Späti at Alexanderplatz (yes, really, the club is downstairs), scan a QR code to join the queue, show your ID and your outfit at the door, and leave your phone at the wardrobe.

It also answers the stuff people often don't dare to ask. What should I wear? What if I get turned away at the door? Can I come on my own? (You can, and plenty of people do.)

The rules are still there

We didn't water anything down. Only a clear yes is a yes, you ask before you touch, and if you cross a line, your night is over. What changed is how we talk about it. The rules page now explains why each rule exists, and it's much easier to see who's there for you: our awareness team, in reflective vests, all night long.

If something happened and you'd rather talk about it afterwards, just email us at [email protected]. We read every message. And if you need help with access, a step-free way in or a quiet spot, message us on Instagram before the night and we'll plan it with you.

No photos, so we drew it

Phones stay at the wardrobe at CAGE, so we don't have party pictures to show you. Instead we made a video flyer with sound, and drawings made inside the club. Hopefully that gives you a feel for the place before you come.

Come say hi

The next CAGE is on Saturday 14 November at Club AMT, 22:00 till 08:00. If you've been curious for a while, this might be a good one to come to. We'd love to see you there.
